Blue Treasures

Approx. 5 hours

Your tour will begin with a drive to Castle of St. Peter. The castle is located in the center of the town and houses the ancient Halicarnassos as well as one of the most well known underwater museums in the world; it is one of the few of its kind in the world. The Amphora exhibition and late Roman ship wreck are the sections that attract the greatest attention. Halicarnassus - Mausoleum was a tomb built between 353 and 350 BC at Halicarnassus for Mausolus, a satrap in the Persian Empire. The finished structure was considered to be such an aesthetic triumph that Antipater of Sidon identified it as one of his Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Then the Great Theater of Ancient Halicarnassus has also recently been restored. This theatre also appears to date from the reign of Mausolos, whose ancient capital is now buried under the structures of modern times. This Theatre is one of the most ancient one in Anatolia. Before you return, there will be time for browsing and shopping and once back in town you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a leather fashion show.  * Princess Ada section inside the Castle is excluded
